Hi there! I didn't see any chords of this song yet, and it's a great song! I know Andy Summers plays it
with tuning half step up when he plays live, but this way (standard tuning) sounds very good to me (better
than if you put a capo on the 1st fret I think) and very close to the record too, especially if you don't hit
the e string. There are some chords, especially the Ab chord and in the outro, that sometimes you just have
to strum once. I didn't put the strumming pattern but it's easy to find out listening to to song and
following the positions below.

BORN IN THE 50's - The Police
 Album: Outlandos d'Amour (1978)

[Chorus]

 Bb Ab Eb Bb Ab
We were born, born in the fifties
 Eb Db Ab
 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Bb Ab
 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Db Ab
 Born, born in the fifties

[Verse 1]

 Eb Ab
 My mother cried
      Bb Ab
 When president Kennedy died
     Eb Ab
She said it was the communists
            Bb Ab
 But I knew better

[Verse 2]

Eb Ab
Would they drop the bomb on us
          Bb Ab
While we made love on the beach?
             Eb Ab
We were the class they couldn't teach
                Bb
 'Cause we knew better

[Chorus]

 Bb Ab Eb Bb Ab
We were born, born in the fifties
 Eb Db Ab
 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Bb Ab
 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Db Ab
 Born, born in the fifties

[Verse 3]

 Eb Ab
 They screamed
          Bb Ab
 When the Beatles sang
          Eb Ab
And they laughed when the King fell down the stairs

 Oh they should've known better

[Verse 4]

       Eb Ab
 Oh we hated our Aunts
         Bb Ab
Then we messed in our pants
         Eb Ab
Then we lost our faith and prayed to the TV
       Bb
 Oh we should've known better

[Chorus]

 Bb Ab Eb Bb Ab
We were born, born in the fifties

 Born, born in the fifties

[Outro]

Ebm7 Ab
We freeze like statues on the pages of history
Ebm7 Ebm7 Ab
Living was never like this when we took all those G.C.E.'s
 Ebm7 F#7 F#m
Oh, you opened the door for us and then you turned to dust
     Bb
You don't understand us, so don't reprimand us
       Bb
We're taking the future, we don't need no teacher

[Chorus]

 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Db Ab
 Born, born in the fifties

 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Db Ab
 Born, born in the fifties
 Eb Bb Ab
 Born, born in the fifties
