Ive managed to pick out to my best ability the chords to this song as it's my favourite
and they're aren't enough Smith Street tabs here!

Im not sure of all the licks and shit through it but I find playing it my your self on
an acoustic or whatever you can fiddle around with D and Dsus4 to kinda imitate it.

Also not sure of the name of the chord so when you see this D/C# its

g--2--|
d--0--|
a--4--|

Heavens opened up and drowned the heat.

I took my shoes off and danced in puddles

on the sudden downpour ghost town street.

It’s New Years 2009, with what's in my system I won't be sleeping for a long time.

And when I was a boy, I thought I was a fish and

I still love the ocean like when I was a kid,

But lately I have come to the conclusion, that I'm disappointingly probably human.

And I've come a long way from those amphibious days and

I'd like to thank the things I've seen, the friends that I've made,

There's blood on this guitar, there's sweat between these keys,

when I step forward to the mic it’s with my tail between my knees,

No, we aren't here to fight, we are here to dance.

We ducked back in our alleys and pretended to hate our tans.
      G                                             A
And told each other one day, we'd all look back and smile,

They're getting us in our sleep, we're having nightmares in our slumber,

It’s a job for another day.

*****The next bit is pretty much the same*****

And last night I kissed a girl that I met in a bar, which seems momentous given how
things are.
We made out all morning then slept in the afternoon and she said, "Wil, I think that I
can deal with you."
And I never found the right way to say thanks to Alex for keeping my head screwed on.
For telling me when I was wrong, even though I've known all along.
It’s time to clean up, start a band, get back on the road again. Stay sober and
appreciate my friends.
So I'd like to say thank you to every single one of you for everything.

Hope it makes some kind of sense, I think its pretty close at least and is a decent
version to play by your self and sing along what have you. Comments/corrections welcome coz
If i can play it a better way Id love to know!

Tabbed My Mitchell Jones.

Ive figured out some of the riffs.
This is in the intro after the line "the heavens opened up and drowned the street"

E||--3----2----0----2----|
B||--3----3----3----3----|
G||--2----2----2----2----|
D||----------------------|
A||----------------------|
E||----------------------|

and this is the cool riff before the band kicks in (notes, not timing)
E|------------2----2----|-------3----2---------|-------2----2---------|
B|--3----3--------------|--3--------------3----|--3--------------3----|
G|----------------------|----------------------|----------------------|
D|----------------------|----------------------|----------------------|
A|----------------------|----------------------|----------------------|
E|----------------------|----------------------|----------------------|

Not saying this is wrong, but it sounds pretty good if you transpose it down a step (or down 2 steps and put a capo on 1)
