Subject: TAB: "Here's where the story ends" by the Sundays

THE following TAB is NOT by me, it's by Rob Cabacungan
                                       robertc@phoenix.princeton.edu

"Here's Where the Story Ends" (D. Gauverin, H. Wheeler)
by the Sundays from "Reading writing & Arithmetic"

Verse chords: Chorus chords:
Cmaj7 320032 F 320003
Cmaj11 032032 C 032010

Cmaj7 Cmaj11
people I know, places I go
Cmaj7 Cmaj11
make me feel tongue-tied
Cmaj7 Cmaj11
I can see how people look down
Cmaj7 Cmaj11
I'm on the outside
Cmaj7 Cmaj11 Cmaj7 Cmaj11
here's where the story ends
Cmaj7 Cmaj11 Cmaj7 Cmaj11
here's where the story ends

*Chorus* [ See Tablature Above ]
          F
it's that little souveneir of a terrible year
      F
which makes my eyes go sore
       F
and whoever would have thought the books that you brought
     F
were all I loved you for
     F

Cmaj7 Cmaj11

places I know, places I go
make me feel so tired
and I can see how people look down
they're on the inside

oh here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

it's that little souvenir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
and who ever would've thought the books that you brought
were all I loved you for

oh the devil in me said, go down to the shed
I know where I belong
but the only thing I ever really wanted to say
was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

it's that little souvenir of a colorful year
which makes me smile inside
so I cynically, cynically say, well is that why
surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise

here's where the story ends
ooh here's where the story ends

End on Gmaj7..

------------------Tablature for Chorus (e is high E-string)
Chords: F F

-e-|---------3-----3-----5-----2-----0---------------------------------|
-B-|-----------3-----3-----3-----3-----3-------------------------------|

which makes my eyes feel sore
          that makes me wonder why

Chords: F F
-e-|---------8-----8-----10-----7-----5---------------------------------|
-B-|-----------8-----8------8-----8-----8-------------------------------|
-G-|-------------0-----0------0-----0-----0-----------------------------|

and i never should have said the books that you read
and it's those memories that we shared that make me turn red

Chords: F F
-e-|---------3-----5-----2-----0-----0---------------------------------|

-e-|-----------2-----2-------2-----2-----------------------------------|
-B-|-------------3-----3---3---3-----3---------------------------------|
-G-|---------4-----4-----4-------4-----4-------------------------------|
               surprise, surprise, surprise

2nd Chorus follows same pattern...

it's that little souveneir of a terrible year
which makes my eyes feel sore
and whoever would have thought the books that you brought
were all i loved you for

and the devil in me said, "go down to the shed"
i know where i belong
but the only thing i ever really wanted to say
was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

Extra refrain in 2nd Chorus:
Chords: F F
-e-|---------8-----8-----10-----10-----10--------------------------------|
-B-|-----------8-----8------8------8------8------------------------------|
-G-|-------------0-----0------0------0------0----------------------------|
and it's that little souveneir of a colorful year

which makes me smile inside
so i cynically cynically sigh
well is that why--surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise

Chords: Gmaj7 Cmaj11 Gmaj7 Cmaj11
-e-|----------2----------2----------0----------0-----------------------|
-B-|------3-3---3----3-3---3----3-3---3----3-3---0---------------------|
-G-|----0----------0----------0----------0-----------------------------|

(repeat above till end)
here's where the story ends
here's where the story ends
...

Subject: CRD: 'Here's Where the Story Ends' by the Sundays

I got the chords from two separate posts last year, and added the picking
pattern I use at the end. Corrections and additions are welcome to both
the chords and lyrics. I'll post 'You're not the only one that I know' in
a couple days.

Here?s Where the Story Ends by the SUNDAYS

Cmaj7 Fadd9
People I know, places I go
Cmaj7 Fadd9
Make me feel tongue-tied
Cmaj7 Fadd9
Like you see how, people are down
Cmaj7 Fadd9
There on the inside
Cmaj7 Fadd9 Cmaj7 Fadd9
Here?s where the story ends

People I see, weary of me
Showing my good side
Like you see how, people are down
I?m on the outside
Here?s where the story ends
Oh, here?s where the story ends

E*
Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a terrible year
      Cmaj7 Fadd9
Which makes my eyes go so
E*
Oh I never should have said, the books you read
     Cmaj7 Fadd9
Were all I loved you for

Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a terrible year
That makes me wonder why
It?s the memories of the shed, that make me turn red
Surprise, surprise, surprise

Places I know, places I go
Make me feel so tired
Like you see how, people are down
I?m on the outside
Here?s where the story ends
Oh, here?s where the story ends

Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a terrible year
Which makes my eyes go so
And whoever would have thought, the books you brought
Were all I loved you for
Oh, the devil in me said
Go down to the shed, I know where I belong
But, the anything-I-ever-really-wanted-to-say
Was wrong, was wrong, was wrong

Oh, it?s that little souvenir of a colorful year
Which makes me smile inside
So I cynically, cynically say, the world is that way
Surprise, surprise, suprise, suprise, surprise

Here?s where the story ends
Oh, here?s where the story ends

I use this picking pattern near the end of the song:

------2------2------------------0------|
---------------0---------3---------3---|
----0------0----0--------------------0-|
-----------------------2------2--------|
---------------------3------3----------|
--3------3-----------------------------|

Chord Shapes:
Cmaj7 Fadd9 E*
--2-- --0-- --7--|
--0-- --3-- --0--|
--0-- --0-- --0--|
--0-- --2-- --0--|
--0-- --3-- --0--|
--3-- ----- --7--|
