"One Headlight"

One Headlight by Wallflowers

I wrote this out in the key of G to better suit my vocal range.
To change it to the original key, just click the transpose "down" arrow until the
first chord of the intro is D

Intro: G G C G B7 Em D C G B7 Em D

C G
So long ago, I don't remember when
       B7 Em D
That's when they say I lost my only friend
           C G
Well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease
     B7 Em D C G B7 Em D
As I listened through the cemetery trees
            C G
I seen the sun comin' up at the funeral at dawn,
    B7 Em D
The long broken arm of human law
        C G
Now it always seemed such a waste. She always had a pretty face
   B7 Em D C C B7 B7
I wondered how she hung around this place

   C G
Hey, come on try a little. Nothing is forever.
Am D
There's got to be something better than in the middle
C G
Me & Cinderella put it all together
Am D C G B7 Em D
We can drive it home with one headlight

              C G
She said it's cold. It feels like Independence Day
      B7 Em D
And I can't break away from this parade
            C G
But there's got to be an opening Somewhere here in front of me
B7 Em D
Through this maze of ugliness and greed
                C G
And I seen the sign up ahead At the county line bridge
       B7 Em D
Sayin' all is good and nothingness is dead
      C G
We'll run until she's out of breath, She ran until there's nothin' left
    B7 Em D C C B7 B7
She hit the end it's just her window ledge

                   C G
Well this place is old, It feels just like a beat up truck
           B7 Em D
I turn the engine, but the engine doesn't turn
                   C G
Well it smells of cheaper wine & cigarettes, This place is always such a mess
     B7 Em D
Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn
           C G
I feel so old, I feel just like somebody else
             B7 Em D
Man, I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same
     C G
But somewhere here in between the seedy walls of dyin' dreams
  B7 Em D C C B7 B7
I think her death it must be killin' me

?You're right, tonypizzo. I ?transposed it because it's easier for me to sing, but I neglected to note this at the top of my submission. To change it to the original key, just click the transpose "down" arrow 5 times until the first chord of the intro is D.
