I pictured a rainbow

C C/G
you held in your hands

F G/F
I had flashes

F G/F
but you saw then plan

C G/C
I wondered out in the world for years

C G/C F
while you just stayed in your room

               G/F F
I saw the crescent

G/F C
you saw the whole of the moon!

G/C F C/E
The whole of the moon!

[Verse 2]

         C
You were there at the turnstiles

         G/C
with the wind at your heels

    C
You stretched for the stars

        G/C
and you know how it feels to reach

F G/F F
too high, too far, too soon,

G/F C
you saw the whole of the moon!

[Verse 3]

        G/C
I was grounded

C G/C
while you filled the skies

F G/F F
I was dumbfounded by truths

G/F
you cut through lies

C G/C C
I saw the rain-dirty valley

G/C
you saw Brigadoon

F G/F F
I saw the crescent

G/F C
you saw the whole of the moon!

(C), G/C, C, G/C
F, G/F, F, G/F.

[Bridge]

C G/B Am
I spoke about wings

G6
you just flew

  F C/E Dm
I wondered, I guessed, and I tried

C/E
you just knew

  C G/C
I sighed

C G/C
but you swooned!

  F G/F F
I saw the crescent

G/F C
you saw the whole of the moon!

G/C F G/F
The whole of the moon!

[Verse 4]

        C
With a torch in your pocket

        G/C
and the wind at your heels

     C
You climbed on the ladder

        G/C
and you know how it feels to reach

F G/F F
too high, too far, too soon,

G/F C
you saw the whole of the moon!

G/C F
The whole of the moon!

      G/F
Hey, yeah!

[Verse 5]

C
Unicorns and cannonballs,

G/C
palaces and piers,

C
Trumpets, towers, and tenements,

     G/C
wide oceans full of tears,

F
Flag, rags, ferry boats,

G/F
scimitars and scarves,

F
Every precious dream and vision

G/F
underneath the stars

          C
Yes, you climbed on the ladder

         G/C
with the wind in your sails

     C
You came like a comet

G/C
blazing your trail

F G/F F
Too high, too far, too soon,

G/F C G/C
you saw the whole of the moon!

[Outro]

C C/G (to fade)

Meant to add - pay no attention to the chord symbols that appear when you hover the mouse over the symbols as almost all of them show the wrong chord.
Just follow my "Chords used" bit.

Great tab! I find the given chords fairly awkward to play... Try transposing it to the key of A (and use the chord diagrams that appear over the Chords) sooo much easier IMO ... and then use a Capo on the 3rd fret, if you want to keep it in C. :D

I play the chords as follows:

C: x35553 (some times x32010)
G/C: X35433 (sounds much better, easy transition from C barre chord)
C/G: 335553 (some times 332010)
F: 133211
G/F: 120033
C/E: 032010
G/B: x20033
Am: x02210
Dm: x00231
G6: 320000

As for the motive, I play one of the following tabs whilst strumming the chords:

Standard:
C G/C
e|----3-1-0----------1-0-----|
B|-----------------3---------|
G|---------------------------|
D|---------------------------|
A|---------------------------|
E|---------------------------|

Barre:
C (x3555x) G/C (x35433)
e|----3----------------------|
B|------6-5----------6-5-----|
G|-----------------3---------|
D|---------------------------|
A|---------------------------|
E|---------------------------|
