Strumming
There is no strumming pattern for this song yet. and get +5 IQ
i was in a thrift store and found this record (even though ive never heard of these
guys) but i bought it cause i liked the cover. the only song i liked was the title
track - Groovin' but i found no chords. i did however find a sweet bass tab, so i
derived the chords from that.

you should tune your guitar down a note but it sounds good in standard tuning as well
(jus get your bass player to play a note down)

Chords:

The chords are the right quality, but they're all down a half step (at least they are according to the recording I found of youtube). So the D's should be Eb's and the Em's should be Fm's and so on.

Try Dmaj7 instead of D. ALso it will sound even sweeter if you play the Dmaj7 and Em as barre chords:

Dmaj7 557675
Em 779987

I don't understand why you would want to de-tune. The song is actually a semi-tone higher, in Eb. All you need to do to play in the same key as the record is just put a capo on at the 1st fret.
I think the actual chords are more subtle than just straight major's and minors. Em and Fm's sound better as Em7 and F#m7, the G as Gmaj7, and the A as A9.
