I Don't Wanna Grow Up
Tom Waits/Kathleen Brennan

D A
           D
When I'm lyin' in my bed at night, I don't wanna grow up
D A
                D
Nothin' ever seems to turn out right, I don't wanna grow up
Bm F# G A
How do you move in a world of fog that's always changing things
Bm F# G A
Makes me wish that I could be a dog

(chord pattern repeats)
When I see the price that you pay I don't wanna grow up
I don't ever want to be that way I don't wanna grow up
Seems like folks turn into things that they'd never want
The only thing to live for is today

I'm gonna put a hole in my tv set I don't wanna grow up
Open up the medicine chest and I don't wanna grow up
Bm F#
I don't wanna have to shout it out (repeat Bm F# for next section)
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
G A D
I don't wanna grow up
D A
           D
Well when I see my parents fight I don't wanna grow up
They all go out and drinkin' all night and I don't wanna grow up
Bm F#
I'd rather stay here in my room
Nothin' out there but sad and gloom
Bm F# G A
I don't wanna live in a big old tomb on Grant Street
D A
      D
When I see the 5 o'clock news I don't wanna grow up
Comb their hair and shine their shoes I don't wanna grow up
Bm F#
Stay around in my old hometown
I don't wanna put no money down
I don't wanna get me a big old loan
Work them fingers to the bone
I don't wanna float a broom
=3D46all in love and get married then boom
How the hell did it get here so soon
G A D
I don't wanna grow up

The question Tom Waits is asked most is:
"Can a women become pregnant whithout intercourse?"

And the answer to that question, which he claims to be asked to frequently, involves a poor fellow in the civil war who had a musket ball blown through his manhood, more specifically his testicles. Well, I am no doctor, so I can't swear to whether this is possible one way or another, but supposedly the ball continued to fly, having found nothing to lodge itself in. After passing through the scrotum of this poor bastard and covering itself in the dudes man juice it finds its home in the belly, more specifically the uterus, of an equally unfortunate female. Her wound, however, is not fatal. In fact, it causes her to become pregnant with the recently castrated soldiers child. So sayeth Tom Waits.

This plays pretty well, but it seems like on "I don't want to grow up" it switches to A on "I" and back to D on "Up"

I think it may be that the author had it correct but browser is not displaying the chords in the place the author intended.
