Hi there, this song is one of my favorite Travis b-side and I'be done a cover of this
song on my youtube channel, if you search "the ballad of J smith cover", you might
find it!

Though Fran recorded without using capo, I put the capo on 2nd fret in my video so
that it's more comfortable for me to sing, and you might just switch the capo to any
fret you want.

The intro start with Em

Em C
He watched the shadows
       D G
On the walls of his room
        Em C D
(use your pinkie to tap on the third fret of first string)
And the silence will speak too soon
    Em C
And he held her tightly
   D G
So tight he could tell
Em C D
He knew the feeling so well

Em C
He said "Pretty baby will you marry me?"
G B7
She said "You'd look shit upon my family tree"
    Em C G B7
And that's when he realised he'd have to start again

Em C
And just when you think you've got it figured out
G B7
They light seven candles and you're blowing them out
Em C G B7
You know that you're going to have to light them all again

Em C D G
You see her turning night into day
        Em C D
And the broken television display
   Em C
And I know you're hurting
   D G
But tonight I can pray
Em C D
Cos you've got to think for yourself

D G
Lie down everyone
           B7 Em
Close your eyes and look for the sun
     D G
Even they don't know where it's gone
    Em C D G
Reminiscing of days when you knew that you belong
