Hello, may i firstly say nice one for working out the chords for this most excellent song. I have done a little bit of work with it and have come up with some alternative solutions. They are as follows:
Instead of using open chords for the intro I suggest using:
e----------------0--------/
b-5--3--1--5--7--1--5--7--/
g-4--2--0--5--7--2--5--7--/
D-6--4--2--5--7--2--5--7--/
A-7--5--3--3--5--0--3--5--/
E-------------------------/
E D C C* D* Am C* D*
For the little syncopated run at the end of the verse use:

e------------------/
b--8--10--8--7---5--/
g--7--11--7--7---5--/
D--9--12--9--7---7--/
A-------------------/
E-------------------/

G D G D Am
"we can be our-selves"
Alternatively any inversion of the above triads can be used to offer a little more colour to the mix! Ta for your time and patience. Bohemiman.
