I think in the original it's power chords (that's what it looks like when they play it live, anyway), but this is right as far as doing it acoustic goes. I prefer to play G as [320002] because in this particular song normal G sounds a bit too happy for me, but that's just me.

This, for the most part is correct. I personally use barred A and G, and it sounds just as good, and the transition sounds cleaner than regular A to G, but that just might be of my own fault. But it IS a G, not a Gm. Gm just sounds plain weird.
