We have an official Far Away tab made by UG professional guitarists.
Check out the tab
Song: Far Away
Artist: José González
Tabbed by: Dingle

This is much much closer than the tabs that are currently out there.
It may sound off initially but I think it's technically closer to the real thing.
He throws in some high e's throughout that aren't noted. I will update with any corrections.
I based most of this tab off this video: youtube.com/watch?v=p0EAwT1tpn8

Tune to B-A-D-A-B-e

Before you begin, practice this over and over.
(0) means it's played softly or not at all. Jose plays it to maintain rhythm.

Outro- This is just a general idea. He alternates often and even plays part of the bridge again.
Use your weak pinky and middle finger to hit bottom notes.

If you can't (or don't want to) tune your G string (3rd from the bottom) to an 'A', just lower it to an 'E' and play the open as a 5. If you struggle to reach the A string (5th from the bottom), tune it down a step to a 'G#' and play it as a 3. This should help you if you only have steel strings or you don't want to risk a G string (hehe). This is the intro with the adjusted tuning E |----------------------------------------------------------| B |--------------------0---------------------------0---------| E |--(5)--(5)------5-------------(5)--(5)-----5-------(5)----| D |------------4---------------------------4-----------------| G#|-------3--------------------------3---------------3-------| B |--0--------------------------0----------------------------| When you play with these adjustments, the outro and bridge are a bit trickier but there's not really a way around it apart from practice.
