It's not correct. Dmaj7 sounds not even close to the original.

I've been playing it differently for years, but I never played it to the record so I'm sure you are correct. I reversed your Fm7 and the Dmaj7 when I played it. I actually covered the first four strings on the second fret but in the verse, I would go back-and-forth between Am7 and Fm7 and the chorus I played G A6 D Bm and at the end of the chorus wind up on the E via G-A6-E. Of course, through this wall, picking up individual notes with any free finger. LOL Beauty of the guitar, I love to see the different ways people play songs, and never feel that one way is better than another way, Unless of course, someone is looking for the recorded version in which case I guess it should be as close as possible
