[Verse 1]
          G#m A E Esus E
I saw you staring at each other.
           G#m C#m F#m A B
I saw your ey--es begin to glow.
            E G#m A G#m C#m
And I could tell you once were lovers.
F#m A B E Esus E
You ain’t hiding nothing I don’t know.

[Chorus 1]
           A A# B E Esus E
There’s an old flame Burning in your eyes,
     G#m C#m F#m A B
That tears can’t drown, and makeup can’t disguise.
             E G#m A
Now that old flame might not be stronger,
    E A
But it’s been burning longer,
         C#m B A B E Esus E
Than any spark I might have started in your eyes.

[Solo]
 C#m B A B E Esus E

[Verse 2]
            G#m A E Esus E
You said it end-ed when he left you.
             G#m C#m F#m A B
You say your love for me is strong,
              E G#m A G#m C#m
But those old me--mo--ries still upset you.
     F#m A B E Esus E
Well I might be a memory ’fore too long.

[Chorus 2]
           A A# B E Esus E
There’s an old flame Burning in your eyes,
     G#m C#m F#m A B
That tears can’t drown, and makeup can’t disguise.
             E G#m A
Now that old flame might not be stronger,
    E A
But it’s been burning longer,
         C#m B A B E Esus E
Than any spark I might have started in your eyes.

[Chorus 3]
           A A# B E Esus E
There’s an old flame Burning in your eyes,
     G#m C#m F#m A B
That tears can’t drown, and makeup can’t disguise.
             E G#m A
Now that old flame might not be stronger,
    E A
But it’s been burning longer,
         C#m B A B E Esus E
Than any spark I might have started in your eyes.

Once again - EARS? LISTEN again to the chorus - it's not A to A# (or G to G#) at all, the ONLY change is the 5th of the chord (E if it's in E and the chorus starts on A) rises to F. It's an augmented chord, and if you refuse to play anything other than "cowboy chords" SHOW RESPECT to the songwriters (and Alabama) by just leaving this song alone rather than butchering it.
