D A G D
What's the matter Mary Jane, you had a hard day
       D A D
As you place the don't disturb sign on the door
    D A G D
You lost your place in line again, what a pi-ty
    D A D
You never seem to want to dance anymore

       C G D
It's a long way down
        Bb F D
On this ro-oller coaster
    C G Bb D
The last chance streetcar
Went off the track
And you're on it

  D A G D
I hear you're counting sheep again Mary Jane
D A D
What's the point of trying to dream anymore
  D A G D
I hear you're losing weight again Mary Jane
       D A D
Do you ever wonder who you're losing it for

          C G D
Well it's full speed baby
       Bb F D
In the wro-ong direction
          C G Bb D
There's a few more bruises
If that's the way
You insist on heading

D A
Please be honest Mary Jane
        G D
Are you happy
D A
Please don't censor your tears

           C G D
You're the sweet crusader
           Bb F D
And you're on your way
           C G Bb D
You're the last great innocent
    Em A
And that's why I love you

   D A D
So take this moment Mary Jane and be selfish
D A D
Worry not about the cars that go by
D A D
All that matters Mary Jane is your freedom
     D A G A D
Keep warm my dear, keep dry

Tell me
Tell me
What's the matter Mary Jane...

PRAISE first for those with short attention spans: I gave it 3 stars. It is worth playing with and is an AMAZING song; definitely one of her best and decently charted by this individual. Take out the A chord and it sounds much better.

Constructive(hopefully) criticism: I think this tab needs more fine-tuning. The A chord definitely doesn't seem right at all so I skipped it when I was playing.
The biggest problem I have with this chord sheet is the last four lines, starting with "Keep warm my dear,". The chords seem jumbled and haphazardly placed. This tab would be much more helpful if the A chord issue (which comes up again here) was fixed.
Although on the album there is more of a synthesizer thing going on in the background during the fade out ("Tell me.. tell me.."), it would be nice to have chords for that, especially since this is really just a fake sheet and nobody is expecting it to be tab-accurate (at least I'M not).
Fix those things and this would deserve 5 stars. Either way though, it's a great start and is definitely worth learning. Thanks for this :-)

I tried this with a Bm replacing most of the A notes. Sounded ok I think. But I've never tabbed a song before, so no criticism, just taking note of the above comment. Thanks for posting this, love this song!!

I experimented and I think it sounds okay to just alternate from a D to a D/G over and over during the verse. Like so:

And you can adapt the picking pattern as appropriate. The chorus parts seem fine to me

You may want to rate the tab now too:
