"Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains
from "Facelift"; Track 2
Tuning: Drop-Db [Down 1/2 step, then drop-D (Db,Ab,Db,Gb,Bb,eb)]

tabbed by alcor666@msn.com w/ help from friends
If you email me, then put 'guitar tab' as subject

I tabbed this out because the major chords G, D, and A are far too cheery
to be the chorus of this song. This is right, trust me.

   [Intro]
D#|-----------------------------------|--------------------------------|
A#|-----------------------------------|--------------------------------|
F#|-----------------------------------|--------------------------------|
C#|--2-x----2--2--x-x--2--x--2--2-x-x-|--------------------------------|
G#|--2-x----2--2--x-x--2--x--2--2-x-x-|-------5------------------------|
D#|--2-x----2--2--x-x--2--x--2--2-x-x-|-5--7---------------------------|

do first part twice then second part; repeat entire thing

Verse riff, sung and guitar playeded w/ wah, vibrato (autowah/envelop ? in live version)
D#|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
A#|--0--3--5------------------------------------------------------------|
F#|-----------2--4--0--2--0---------------------------------------------|
C#|--------------------------2--2---------------------------------------|
G#|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
D#|---------------------------------------------------------------------|

Chorus (some lyrics removed; underscore means hold word)
D#|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
A#|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
F#|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
C#|--2-2-2-2-2--5-5-5-5-5--0-0-0-0-0--7-7-7-7-7-------------------------|
G#|--2-2-2-2-2--5-5-5-5-5--0-0-0-0-0--7-7-7-7-7-------------------------|
D#|--2-2-2-2-2--5-5-5-5-5--0-0-0-0-0--7-7-7-7-7-------------------------|
  fe___________ed my eyes can...shut?

here’s a riff I can’t get right, but you can try it anyways
(intro to chorus first time around)
D#|----------------------------|
A#|----------------------------|
F#|--4--2----------------------|
C#|--------2--0----------------|
G#|--------------2--0----------|
D#|----------------------------|

I’m not good enough to tab out solo.

just a slight correction. you may notice that on the opening riff of the song, it doesn't sound quite like the 5th chord that you've put on here, as it is somewhat dischordant. this is achieved by playing it in standard tuning the same way that you would play a 5th in drop-D, then alternating playing the D note on the 5th fret of the A string
like this:

e|---------------------------
B|---------------------------
G|---------------------------
D|--------------------------- and so on and so forth, throughout
A|-0-x-5-5-x-0-0-x-0-5----5--
E|-0-x-0-0-x-0-0-x-0-0-5h7---

play the intro w/ heavy dist and wah to replicate the sound.

hope this helps. rock on.

just as an afternote, this song is played in standard tuning, 1/2 step down:
Eb
Bb
Gb
Db
Ab
Eb
