Title: Railroad Bill
Artist: Andrew Bird
Album: Hands of Glory (2012)
Submitted by: Anonanimal (My girlfriend and I tried to figure this one out since we've
been singing it around the house constantly and couldnt find it anywhere. Feel free to
correct any problems so that everyone can benefit).
Capo: NONE
Note (*): When your two fingers are already on the low E string and the A string from
playing the G chord, try fingerpicking them in the order (low E, then A) before
transitioning into the B7 chord. Not necessary, but adds a little more filler towards
the progressions.

This is an interesting arrangement, thank you.
It differs from the arrangement and harmony of the traditional one in the 1960s Coffee-house Songbook, which is very similar to the Bob Dylan & Rambling Jack Elliott versions.
The Dylan guitar chords are shown here:
https://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/dylan/png/railroad_bill.png
and the Jack Elliott version is here:
https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/r/ramblin_jack_elliott/railroad_bill_crd.htm
Here are those same guitar chord _patterns_ as used on a gCAE-tuned Ukulele:
(F) (F)
Railroad Bill, Railroad Bill
(A) (A#)
Never worked and he never will
(F) (C) (F)
I'm gonna ride, Railroad Bill.
This arrangement retains the original harmonies and permits the same sort of melody note fingerings and transitions as on a guitar, which suits me, but may not suit you!
The last line in the Coffee-house Songbook is (iirc) :-
(F) (C) (F)
I'm gonna ride, ride, ride, ride
or...
(F) (C) (F)
..and it's ride, ride, ride, ride
hth!
