haven't tried to play it yet, but why not just put it in dropped D? the 3 on the B string is the lowest you go and it's the same octave as a low D. just curious.

just too lazy really, a few of their songs are played in BEAD so it's just easier to play all of their catalog in one tuning rather than switching back and forth. You're right it can easily be played in D, just play the appropriate notes.
