[Intro]
{Em, D, C, G} x 2
[Verse 1]
Em D C G
Try'na set myself up for the win
(G) Em D C G
So people got a dream that's so much bigger than the town they're in
(G) Em D C G
So give me love, give me love, give me peace, give me peace of mind
(G) Em D C G
I know that there's an ought to a start and I need a little help with mine
[Pre-Chorus]
(Palm muted, you'll hear it in the song)
Em D C G
California, don't let me down
Em D C G
Seems so golden, but there's struggle all around
Em D C G
Sunset Jesus, came to me
Em D C G
He once was waiter, now he's a savior making money on the street
(At this point, the chords change rhythm into Em D Em C G,
but for simplicity's sake, I've kept them the same till the breaks)
[Chorus]
Em D C G
My dreams are made of gold
Em D C G
My heart's been broken and I'm down along the road
(G) Em D C G
But I know, my dreams keep fading til I get old
Em D C G
Breathe for a minute, breathe for a minute, I'll be okay
[Break]
(The break is thrice as long, so for acoustic purposes I've shortened it)
{Em, D, Em, C, G} x 4
[Verse 3]
Em D C G
Staring at the billboard from the bus
Em D C G
Looking at the faces, thinking that could be anyone of us
Em D C G
So give me hope, give me hope, give me hope on this lonely ride
Em D C G
Cause I know one day, I will be the one in the sky
[Pre-Chorus]
(Palm muted)
N.C. Em D
California, don't let me down
Em D C G
Seems so golden, but there's struggle all around
Em D C G
Sunset Jesus, came to me
Em D C G
He once was waiter, now he's a savior making money on the street
[Chorus]
Em D C G
My dreams are made of gold
Em D C G
My heart's been broken and I'm down along the road
(G) Em D C G
But I know, my dreams keep fading til I get old
(Em D C G) x 4
(Breathe for a minute, breathe for a minute) x 6
Em D C G
Sunset Jesus
[Break]
{Em, D, Em, C, G} x 4
[Outro]
Em D C G
My dreams are made of gold
Em D C G
My heart's been broken and I'm down along the road
(G) Em D C G
But I know, my dreams keep fading til I get old
Em D C G
Breathe for a minute, breathe for a minute, I'll be okay
Em D C G
My dreams are made of gold
Em D C G
My heart's been broken and I'm down along the road
(G) Em D Em D
But I know, my dreams keep fading til I get old
Em D C G
Breathe for a minute, breathe for a minute, I'll be okay

Correct but u do with bar chords
+2

I find no immediate faults. I note a couple of comments saying it sounds better with bar chords, sure - if you are playing acoustic - but the guitar is electronic (not electric, electronic) so play the chords where ever on your guitar they sound best (usually bar chords) but it can not be argued for this song in terms of correctness. I would love if someone completed the song with strumming patterns. All that said... mark my words: 100 years from now, this song will be regarded as one of the greatest by Avicii. The break is ingeniously brilliant (Mozart level). What do I know? (Allegedly) I knew the album 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley to be a masterpiece (and favorite album) last century, Jason Mraz - I'm yours and John Legend - All of me when first released... And evidently I requested "September Song" here on UG. MY POINT: Thanks to Author Cyrus9201 (check out "Addicted to you" from album "Avicii by Avicii") and to everyone else - praise and enjoy Tim a.k.a. Avicii and his contribution to music. /John Karlsson

Verses are correct but sound better with bar chords.
As for the break, i think it should go Em F#(just the note) G C Dsus4 (with an optional hammer on/off or flutter of the G string when playing the Dsus4).
