This song appears on Baysides Acoustic album, and I really wanted to know how to play
it so I looked at the Smoking Popes Tab for it. It was in a different key so I
transposed it for anyone else who wants to learn it.
INTRO A Ab/A F# F#/G X2
A A/Ab
Butter on a summer day
F#
When she's around

When the gate came down

Suddenly I recognized
F# F#/Ab D
Those bloodshot rearview mirror eyes as mine
F#m E D

F#m E D
I almost drove away
Chorus:
Am Db
But Megan I
E F#m B
had a feeling that you would be on that train

F# F#/Ab D
Between the landing and the stairs
F#m E D

So I just waited there for you

It's not WAY off, but there are a few fundamental mistakes. Here's what I do to make it sound better when I play it; perhaps you could incorporate these into a later version or something.
I just hold A through "summer day," then change F# to F#m and hold that through "tracks"--I do that whenever one of the slashed chords comes up. It seems to work as well as doing one of those complicated ones would.
I omit the D at the end of the bridge, at "drove away," simply holding E through that.
At the beginning of the chorus, I change it to A then Dbm (as opposed to your Am and Db). I then make the B for "train" a Bm.
That's really it. With those changes, this tab would be ready for a five-star rating. :) Thank you.
