                               Sophie - Bear's Den
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Ben Skiller
E-mail: mail@benskiller.com

Tabbed it from the album so that it can be played with one guitar.
Listen closely to the song, start slowly and good luck. :)

Tuning: Standard
Capo on the 2nd fret

The song is based on these chords. (Relative to the capo.)
  Am F G G

E|------------------------|-(1)--------------------|--3---------------------|--3---------------------|

Notes that have brackets ( ) around them aren't essential, but I highly recommend to play them.
They are there to fill the background and mainly make up the bass line.

When doing the picking pattern, add a lot of emphasis on the hammer-ons and pull-offs.
They are related to the accents of the lyrics and just the feeling of the song in general.
In the 2nd (and 4th) bar of the Intro, both the double 3's on the E string have a similar feeling.

Note that the last bit (1p0h1h3) is kind of a step-up to the next part.
These step-ups also happens between other parts of the song.

[Verse 1 part 1] ('Lead' switches to the other guitar.)

[Verse 1 part 2] ('Lead' switches back to the first guitar.)

The 2nd part of the Verse is the same as the Intro (4 bars).
(Actually the first part of the Verse too, but impossible to play of course.)
(Starts with: "And you always love Charlie best...")

The Chorus is the first bars of the Intro. (Alternatively you can strum the chords.)
So without the step-up.

[Chorus 2]

Same as Chorus 1, but twice as long (so in total 4 bars.) (Strumming for more dynamism/dynamic.)
(He sings "And I can't forgive myself...")
Then he sings "Sophie" twice after that, play the same (so 2 more bars).
Without the step-up.

[Bridge]
I suggest just strumming the chords Am(or A7) and G alternatively.
With occasionally a small variation at the end of the G which I've shown here below.

e|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------(0)-(0)---------------------------(0)-(0)------------------|
G|-----------2/4-4-4\2p0---0-------0--0--2--0--2/4-4-4\2p0---0---------|
D|-----------------------2----0h2--------------------------2-----------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------|

You can be fairly rough with it, playing it quickly almost like a chord.
Try to build up the dynamic that way,
there are many instruments involved, so it'll be tough to imitate all those.
Try to get the high notes through, so you get some kind of the same piano feeling.
It starts on the G-chord for half a bar.
(Starts with: "Didn't know I started running.")

[Outro]

Strum the chords, but then just 1 strum per bar.
Starts on the G-chord for a half a bar again.
(Basically one strum after the first half of the variation.)
End on a G-chord.

Have fun with this song. :)
