After confirming by watching a Youtube video of Tommy Kessler (Blondie guitarist) showing how he plays this song, It's basically all 'Power Chords' so you don't need to be using 'full' or open chords to play this song.

The first chord, first chorus should be a G, not a D.

Thanks for this really helpful I think the instrumental section should be F#m F#m A C#m F#m F#m A C#m B7 E F#m F#m A A B B Pretty much what you said but the C/C# is just the keyboard running up to the D starting in the next verse.
