[Verse 1]
      E B A E
'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
     E B A
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
E B A
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 2]
       E B A E
And if I pass this way again you can rest assured
     E B A
I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
     E B A
In a world of steel-eyed death and men who are fighting to be warm
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E |

[Verse 3]
      E B A E
Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved
E B A
Everything up to that point had been left unresolved
E B A
Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 4]
E B A E
I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail
E B A
Poisoned in the bushes and blown out on the trail
E B A
Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 5]
E B A E
Suddenly I turned around and she was standing there
     E B A
With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair
    E B A
She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 6]
E B A E
Now there's a wall between us, somethin' there's been lost
E B A
I took too much for granted, I got my signals crossed
E B A
Just to think that it all began on an uneventful morn
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 7]
          E B A E
Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount
    E B A
But nothing really matters much, it's doom alone that counts
        E B A
And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 8]
E B A E
I've heard newborn babies wailin' like a mournin' dove
    E B A
And old men with broken teeth stranded without love
     E B A
Do I understand your question, man, is it hopeless and forlorn
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 9]
     E B A E
In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
  E B A
I bargained for salvation and she gave me a lethal dose
  E B A
I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

| E B | A E | E B | A E |

[Verse 10]
          E B A E
Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line
E B A
Beauty walks a razor's edge, someday I'll make it mine
           E B A
If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born
     E B A E
Come in, she said, I'll give ya shelter from the storm

Change your B to (starting with 6th string) 0-6-4-4-0-0 and your A to 0-4-2-2-0-0 and anytime you see E going to A add the B between the two. With these chords you don't have to tune to open D and capo 2nd fret and you get the E bass note drone effect with the B and A chords.

Hi nice work on the tab, I just think your missing a B here and there and I don't think it's B7,,,but I could be completely wrong lol It's pretty much E, B, A, E, all the way through although you stay on the A in the second line of the verse xx Or it may well be B7 in the last line but link is defo E,B,A,E,E,B,A,E
