Standard Tuning

*Note: During the musical interludes (like the intro) play
         D as x54030 (C=x32010)

Intro (and general pattern):
   G Em G Em C

         D G D

G Em G Em

     G Em
I’ve heard that there’s a secret chord
     G Em
That David played and it pleased the Lord
    C G D
But you don’t really care for music do ya?

   G C D
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
    Em C
The minor fall, the major lift
    D B Em
The baffled King composing Hallelujah

      C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G D G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

G Em G Em

          G Em
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
    G Em
You saw her bathing on the roof
    C G D
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew ya.

    G C D
She tied you to her kitchen chair
    Em C
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
    D B Em
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

      C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G D G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

G Em G Em

G Em
Darling I’ve been here before
     G Em
I’ve seen this room, I’ve walked these floors
           C G D
You know I used to live alone before I knew ya.

     G C D
I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
Em C
Love is not a victory march
       D B Em
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

      C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G D Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
   D G Em G Em C D G D
Oh yeah…

G Em G Em

G Em
There was a time when you let me know
       G Em
What’s really going on below
C G D
But now you never show it to me, do ya?

    G C D
And remember when I moved in you
    Em C
The Holy Dove was moving too
    D B Em
And every breath you drew was Hallelujah

             C Em
It was Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C Em D G
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

   G Em
So maybe there’s a God above
    G Em
But all I ever learned from love
    C G D
Was how to shoot at somebody who outdrew ya.

     G C D
It’s not a cry that you hear at night
     Em C
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
       D B Em
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
      C Em
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
      C G D C
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hey, Hallelujah

Change the Am to a B and you have the perfect chords. ;-) Nice work!

Agreed about the B in the sixth line of each verse.

Also optional - I usually add another step in the third line of each verse, which I took from some of the Leonard Cohen tabs - in this key it would go: C D G D

Otherwise perfect. Brandi Carlile's is my favorite version of the song. :)
