[Intro]
D G A D G A

[Verse]
        D G A
In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream
    D G A
At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines
   G F#m
Sprung from cages on highway 9
        Em F#m D D7
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin' out over the line... OOOH!
G F#m
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
        Em F#m
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
         D Bm
We gotta get out while we're young
           G A D G A D G A
'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run
             D
Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
              G A
I want to guard your dreams and visions
       D
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
      G A
and strap your hands 'cross my engines
   G F#m
Together we could break this trap
      Em F#m D D7
We'll run till we drop and baby we'll never go back... OOOH!
          G F#m
Will you walk with me out on the wire
       Em F#m
'Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider
       D Bm
But I gotta know how it feels
          G
I want to know if love is wild
             A D G A D G A
Babe I want to know if love is real
   C F
Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
        G
Girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
               A#
And the boys try to look so hard
      C
The amusement park rises bold and stark
            F
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
        G
I wanna die with you Wendy on the street tonight
          A#
In an everlasting kiss
       D G A
The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
         D
Everybody's out on the run tonight
            G A
but there's no place left to hide
   G F#m
Together Wendy we can live with the sadness
     Em F#m D D7
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul... OOOH!
 G F#m
Someday girl I don't know when
            Em
we're gonna get to that place
         F#m D
Where we really want to go
                      Bm
and we'll walk in the sun
                G
But till then tramps like us
A D G
baby we were born to run
A D G
baby we were born to run
A D
Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh

This is great! Simplified just enough that it sounds accurate but makes it easier for acoustic, strumming and singing. Only thing I do different is play G/F# (200033) instead of the F#m as it's an easy transition (just move the G shape around to G/F# then Em7 and back to G/F#) and is accurate to the record. Thanks for the great tab!
