Terry’s Song

Ok ive tried this out like 100 times and i think it's pretty damn close. The chords
with the /'s indicate the main chord to play but with an alternate bass note,
i.e. Em/F# is em played one stroke with a F# bass note. I will say i'm not sure
if some of the G/F#'s should maybe be D/F#'s try it and see what you think.

I put the chords in from start to finish cos the changes can catch you unawares. It's
an awesome tune by an artist i'm just begining to appreciate.

any suggestions to improve upon this please let me know....

Terry's Song
G C

Well they built the Titanic to be one of a kind, but many ships have ruled
the seas
     G G/F# Em D C
They built the Eiffel Tower to stand alone, but they could build another if
they please
G C G
Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Egypt, are unique I suppose
G G/F# Em D G
But when they built you, brother, they broke the mold

G C G
Now the world is filled with many wonders under the passing sun
    G G/F# Em D C D
And sometimes something comes along and you know it's for sure the only one
         G C G
The Mona Lisa, the David, the Sistine Chapel, Jesus, Mary, and Joe
    G G/F# Em D G
And when they built you, brother, they broke the mold

C G C G
When they built you, brother, they turned dust into gold
G G/F# Em D G
When they built you, brother, they broke the mold

Em Em Em/F# G
They say you can't take it with you, but I think that they're wrong
       C D
'Cause all I know is I woke up this morning, and something big was gone
G C G
Gone into that dark ether where you're still young and hard and cold
          G G/F# Em D G
Just like when they built you, brother, they broke the mold

Harmonica Solo
(Verse chords)

G C G
Now your death is upon us and we'll return your ashes to the earth
 G G/F# Em D C D
And I know you'll take comfort in knowing you've been roundly blessed and cursed
    G C G
But love is a power greater than death, just like the songs and stories told
G G/F# Em D G
And when she built you, brother, she broke the mold

C Em Em/F# G
That attitude's a power stronger than death, alive and burning her stone cold
G G/F# Em D G
When they built you, brother

Harmonica Solo
(verse chords)

Ok. . thanks for getting this started. . Here's some thinks that I hear a bit differently. .

On the falling bass line, I hear it

G, Bm/F# (not G/F#), Em, G/D (not D), C, D

On the refrain of "when they built you Brother. I hear a climbing bass line of: Em, D/F# and G; not G, G/F# Em

On the Bridge I hear, C, G, C, Em (not G)

In the next stance of the bridge I hear, , Em7, not just Em.

Let me know what you think about these changes.

Great tab. I'll try out alundberg's corrections, too, but this works just fine for me. Five stars.

Beautiful song,
in the second line "They built the Eiffel Tower...", i would play
G - G/F# - Em - Em7(not D) - C - D
I would also play a strum Em7 in "when they built you, brother" between Em and D
The G chord I play 320033,em7 022030,
plus: you have to listen, there are some hammers on the D Chord, on the e line from 2nd to 3rd fred.
