[Intro]

(Em C G) (x2)

[Verse 1]

C D Em
/ Here I am, Lord and I'm drowning
        G C
In Your sea of forgetfulness
              D Em
The chains of yesterday surround me
  G C
I yearn for peace and rest
                 D Em
I don't want to end up where You found me
       G C D C
And it echoes in my mind, keeps me awake tonight

[Verse 2]

C D Em
/ I know You've cast my sin as far as
       G C
As the east is from the west
      D Em
And I stand before You now
   G C
As though I've never sinned
            D Em G/B
But today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
         C D
From You leaving me this way
C {tacit}
Jesus can You show me just how

[Chorus]

Em G D
Far the east is from the west
               Am
'Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
C
Rising up in me again
       Em G D
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
         Am Em7 C
You know just how far the east is from the west
                              D
From one scarred hand to the other

[Instrumental]

Em / / / D / / / Em / / / D / / /

[Verse 3]

C D Em
/ I start the day, the war begins
          G C
Endless reminding of my sin
         D Em
Time and time again Your truth is drowned out
G C
By the storm I'm in
        D Em G/B
Today I feel like I'm just one mistake away
         C D
From You leaving me this way
C
Jesus can You show me just how

[Chorus]

Em G D
Far the east is from the west
               Am
'Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
C
Rising up in me again
       Em G D
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
         Am Em7 C
You know just how far the east is from the west
                              G
From one scarred hand to the other

[Bridge]

G D
I know You've washed me white
                      Em
Turn my darkness into light
                            C
I need Your peace to get me through
   C G
To get me through this night
                       Bm
I can't live by what I feel
                          Em
About the truth Your work reveals
                          C
And I'm not holding on to You
                         Em / / / D
But You're holding on to me
                     Em / / / D
You're holding on to me

[Chorus]

{tacit} G D
Jesus, You know just how far the east is from the west
        Am
I don't have to see the man I've been
     C
Come rising up in me again
       G D
In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
         Am Em7 C
You know just how far the east is from the west

From one scarred hand to the other

[Ending]

Em D Em D
Just how far, the east is from the west, just how far
(From one scarred hand to the other)

You know just how far, the east is from the west, just how far)

From one scarred hand to the other ...

I started with the version from ugudrum (Thanks Dude!) but I put the verses
and chorus in order for the acoustic version. I liked how an Em7 sounded
with C on "from the west." Also, I think the D/F# could be played as just D
and the C/E as just C.

I have found that Em7 doesn't need to be played, Bm can be played as D, and G/B can be played as just G, but with everything the same, it sounds even better.
