We can drop the tuning on the entire guitar a half step and play in the key of c along with another guitar playing in the key of b, it sounds very nice have fun

For bass notes, on the last two lines of the chorus; 'My one defence, my righteousness, Oh God, how I need you.' - I do D# - E - F# - G# - F# - F# - B. I think it works much better, and sounds like the bass on the original. You can also do a run down from the previous F# on '..you' through E to the D#.

Another thing I noticed about your intrepretation of this song is the Ab's and Bb's. Although they are enharmonic to G# and A#, this song is in the key of B, which has five sharps. The natural chord progression doesn't contain three sharps and two flats. Stay true to the key.
