You said no strings could secure you at the station
Platform ticket restless diesels goodbye windows
I walked into such a sad time at the station
As I walked out felt my own need just beginning

I'll wait in the queue where the trains come by
I'll wait for you where the shadows run from themselves

 Gm F Dm C
 Gm F Dm C Am7

At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd
Consolation from the old wound now forgotten
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes
She's just dressing goodbye windows, tired starlings

I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves

 Gm F Dm C
 Gm F Dm C Am7

Solo over the verse chords. Use the pentatonic scale in Dm.

This is the closest. Clapton evidently likes this base run off the d chord. He uses it in Brave Ulysses and Can't find my home.

The verse should be Dm instead of D major. In the White Room with black curtains near the station Dm Cadd9 G/B A# C The guitar solo is in D-ambiguous scale as I'd like to call it. D-maj/min both work well over it, a fact that was not lost on Eric Clapton.

In the verses they use clearly D major.
