[Verse 1]
G Cadd9
I’m starin out into the night
G Cadd9
Tryin to hide the pain
G Cadd9
I’m going to the place where love
    Em D Cadd9
And feeling good don’t ever cost a thing

I don’t regret this life I chose for me
           Em D Cadd9
But these places and these faces are getting old

Instead of tuning 1/2 step down why not just play in G flat?

You could just play it in G flat but for novice guitar players I've seen it easier to just tune down the 1/2 step and play these chords.

Also this tuning down a 1/2 step and playing these chords is how it's done on the actual recording of the song and it how Chris Daughtry plays the song.
