Once again I lend my poorly trained guitar skills to putting some David
Gray chords out there. If anyone else feels like doing the same, then go
right ahead.

This song is my own personal favourite.

Gathering Dust - David Gray (From "A Century Ends")

Chords used:

Gadd9 320033 Cadd9 032033
(you'll just have to work out the strumming for yourselves)

Gadd9 Cadd9
I got no reason
Gadd9 Cadd9
but that I must
Gadd9 Cadd9
maybe I feel
                Gadd9 Cadd9
like I've been gathering dust
Gadd9 Cadd9
I must leave this harbour for the sea
         Gadd9 Cadd9
I'm too young to settle down and make a home
         Gadd9 Cadd9
but I don't know where I'm wanting to be
       Gadd9 Cadd9
I just know I have to be there alone

D C
Stole my time,
D C
all my time
D C
stole my time,
Gadd9 Cadd9 Gadd9 Cadd9
for you

(the other verses and choruses are the same)

Pale winter sun
is beating the ground
why am I throwing away
the best thing that I've found
my young hearts in tatters and I'm sure
that it will be a long time healing
its so hard to see what I'm doing this for
when loneliness is all that I'm feeling

Stole my time, all my time
spent my time, for you

Now the wind it is blowing
blowing leaves from the trees
I've got no use knowing
that with time it will ease
I don't know where I'm going
hope I get there soon
cos my soul is hollow
as the sorrowful moon
na na na na...

Oh the night is raining on my weary head
taking my back

See the sun spread wings of gold
as the dawn unfurls
hear the song that the moon sings
to the darkened world
feel the fire lighting
in the bitter cold
its the light that shines
through the windows of your soul
windows of your soul

Very nice man! God, I love this song too. Definitely one of my favorites by David Gray, for sure. I just played it off the screen, thanks.

There is a ton from this tab that is missing.

There is no Gadd9's. All the Gadd9's are supposed to be G's played 320003 and all the Cadd9's are current listed are just C's played x32010. There are Cadd9's in the song but they are played x3x010.

After each G in the 1st and 2nd verse there is a G/A chord played x00003. After the G/A chord you go to the C. After every C in the 1st verse and after every C in each chorus there is a C6/9 played x30210 followed by the Cadd9. Therefore a verse will look like so...G G/A C C6/9 Cadd9 and then back to the G. And a chorus will look like so...D C C6/9 Cadd9 and then back to the D.

Another thing is that only the 1st and 2nd verse are played the same, all the other verses are played a different way. The chords for all the other verse are like so...G D Bm/D D C D Bm/D D and then back to the G again and so on.

The Bm/D is played xx0432. There for to go from D to Bm/D you just put you pinky on the G string on the 4th fret. The D to Bm/D to D is on consecutive beats. So you're basically putting your pinky on the string for the Bm/D and then taking it right off. Its not quite a hammer on then pull off but close to it.

I know its probably a little difficult to understand all that i put. If I ever have the time to, Ill tab out the whole song. Hopefully what I put down so far is helpful.
