I think this is a very complete version of this song, especially with its fills and little riffs. I also think I explain the song well.

Romeo and Juliet By Dire Straits
Written by Mark Knopfler
To play this like Mr. Knopfler, we need to tune to open G and capo on the 3rd fret. Sometimes it is good to
tune a guitar with the capo on, which will yield a better tuning that if the strings are tuned without a capo
and then the capo is added after. If you do this, make sure you have the strings too low and then tune up. I
am adding the notes of the strings with the capo on, if you're using the latter method. The best way is to
tune the strings is the following: Tune without capo, making the strings slightly lower than they should be,
then add the capo and tune each string again slightly up until they are all correct.
I would like to give massive amounts of credit to the outstanding Justin Sandercoe from www.justinguitar.com.
I have never had guitar lessons, so watching his videos has allowed me to progress immensely in my playing. If
he sees this, thank you so much. You have made such a difference in my life.
I will have the song with all the riffs where I think they should be first. If all those riffs annoy you, I
have the whole song over again, with lyrics and chords, but no riffs (expect the intro) at the end.
Open Strings (without capo): Open Strings (with Capo):
d f
B D
G Bb
D F
G Bb
D F
There are a couple main chord shapes we will be using
F:d---4--- C:d---2--- Bb:d---0--- Dm:d---0---| Gm:d---2---|
B---3--- B---2--- B---0--- B--(3)--| B---0---|
G---2--- G---2--- G---0--- G---4---| G---0---|
D---4--- D---2--- D---0--- D---4---| D---2---|
G---2--- G---2--- G---0--- G---4---| G---x---|
D---0--- D---x--- D--(0)-- D--(0)--| D---2---|
Note 1:
Between the first verse and chorus, you'll see a riff. It is often used between in this song verses and the
chorus or between sections of verses. There are various riffs like this, such as the one that Bb and C, and
the one F to Bb, and C to F. I have placed them in their respective places for only the first verse and
chorus. These are all the places that Knopfler could play them. He doesn't always, so feel free to use your
creative liberties, and play them when they feel right to you.
Note 2:
Often in this song, when transitioning between F and Dm, there is a C chord. To spice it up, you can play a
percussive string hit, play the high three strings on a C chord, hit the bass C note, and strum the next
chord. I got that from watching Justin Sandercoe. When in doubt, always watch his videos.

This is definitely the most accurate version I've found yet.

Well done! You even got the point that Justin couldn't quite figure out: You stay on the Gm for "when you gonna realize."
