The guitars on Henley's recording are tuned down one step. They play D but because of the guitars tuned down,
one hears C#. If you don't want to take the trouble of retuning your guitar, transpose this chord sheet -2
to C and then use a capo 1st fret to match the recording.

| D | Bm | F#m | A |
| D | Bm | F#m | G |

[Verse 1]
D Bm
  A long, long time ago,
F#m A
When we were young and pretty
D Bm
We ruled the world, we stopped the time, we knew it all
F#m A
  We owned this city
D Daug Bm E
Running with the crowd, carefree and proud, I heard somebody say
Take a picture of this
A G
Aaah, take a picture of this

[Verse 2]
D Bm
  The years went rushing by
                       F#m A
In the twinkling of an eye, we rolled with the changes
D Bm
The life we knew was gone
                          F#m A
Our friends had all moved on, time rearranges
D Daug
  But on our wedding day
                      Bm E
They all came back to say, “Congratulations"
Take a picture of this
A G
Aaah, take a picture of this

G Gm D
Then, we raised a family of our own
 We were so happy, baby
G C9 Bm E
But now those kids are grown and gone

| D/A | A | Gadd9 | G |

[Bridge 2]
A Bm D/F# G
I gave it everything I had,
A Bm G D
Through the good times and the bad
A Bm D/F# G
But now, I'm down here on the floor
A Bm G
'Cause I don't know you anymore

[Verse 3]
D Bm F#m A
  Yeah, that's a suitcase, yeah, that's a ticket for a plane
D Bm F#m A
There's no one here to talk to, no reason to remain
D Daug
When you spend all your time living in the past
D6 E
With all those pictures that you took
       Bm E
Here's one more for the book
       D/A A
Take a picture of this, this is me leaving
       G [ D ]
Take a picture of this, this is me walking away

       D Dsus4
Take a picture of this
       D Dsus4

i tuned down to D to play in same key as recording with these chords...and tried changing the Edim to B6 fingering on 2nd fret...also in the bridge play F# not D/F# and then a G instead of the D/A....let me know what you think

Don't know about tuning down to D; seems to me the acoustics on Henley's recording are tuned only one step down (Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb). Edim: They don't sound right to me. To me they are Gm and C9 respectively. I just suggested a correction. Let's see what other users think. Whatever, this is such a fine song and the chord sheet here is 95% correct - great stuff!
