[Chorus]
G C
She was only sixteen, only sixteen,
D G
But I loved her so,
                     C
She was too young to fall in love,
    D G
And I was too young to know,

[Verse]
                          C
We'd laugh and we'd sing, and do funny things,
D G
And it made our hearts glow,
                     C
She was too young to fall in love,
    D G
And I was too young to know,
   C G
So why did I give my heart so fast,
   C G
It never will happen again,
    C G
But I was a mere child of sixteen,
D
I've aged a year since then,

[Chorus]
G C
She was only sixteen, only sixteen,
D G
But I loved her so,
                     C
She was too young to fall in love,
    D G
And I was too young to know,

[Verse]
   C G
So why did I give my heart so fast,
   C G
It never will happen again,
    C G
But I was a mere child of sixteen,
D
I've aged a year since then,

[Chorus]
G C
She was only sixteen, only sixteen,
D G
But I loved her so,
                     C
She was too young to fall in love,
    D G
And I was too young to know,

Not necessarily a correction, but here's how I play it (in the key of C):

Verse: She was (C) only 16, (F) only six(G)teen
(F)But (G7) I loved her (C) so-o.
(C) She was too young to (F) fall in (G) love,
And (F) I was too (G7) young to (C) know (C7)

Refrain: So (Dm7) why did I (G) give my (C) heart so fast?
(Dm7) It'll never (G) happen a(C)gain.
But (Dm7) I was a (G) mere (C) child of six(Am7)teen.
(D7) I've aged a year since (G) then (G7)

Note: If you don't like the minor sevenths, you can play an F for the Dm7 (xoo211) and an Am for the Am7 (oo2o1o) and it works OK.

Cheers,
Ed
