WAYFARING STRANGER - Ed Sheeran

Tuning: Standard EADGBe
Capo on 1st fret
I've realised that the version that Ed Sheeran sings (Jamie Woon's arrangement) can
pretty much be played using just two chords. There was another version that uses 4
chords of
F, Ab, F, C, Bb, Ab, F, on a capo 2 as following the background oh oh's, but I think
using two chords fits just fine.

Em Em
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
A Em
Traveling through, this world alone
Em Em
There's no sickness, toil nor danger
A Em
In that bright land, to which I go
Em Em
I'm going there to see my mother
A Em
I'm going there no more to roam
Em Em
I'm only going over Jordan
A Em
I'm only going over home now
(Beatbox Instrumental- Em, A, Em, A)
Em Em
I know dark clouds will gather o'er me
A Em
I know my way is rough and steep
Em Em
And the beautiful fields lie just beyond me
A Em
I know my way is rough and steep
Em Em
I'm going there to see my mother
A Em
I'm going there no more to roam
Em Em
I'm just going over Jordan
A Em
I'm just going over home
A capella (No backing noise)
Em Em
Cause I'm a poor wayfaring stranger
A Em
Traveling through, this world alone
Em Em
There's no sickness, toil or danger
A Em
In that bright land, to which I go
Em Em
I'm going there to see my mother
A Em
I'm going there no more to roam
Em Em
I'm only going over Jordan
A Em
I'm only going o'er home now
To me it sounds pretty cowboyish, and you can be inventive with your Em's and A's and
add hammer ons or pulloffs to/from open string and such and take down the rhythm carefully
as it's a little odd. Maybe listening to Sheryl Crow's Redemption Day may help you get
into the swing of things.
Enjoy!

the chord progression is actually Em G A Em instead of Em Em A Em
+10

To me it sounds better with those chords:
Em Am Em
A Em
Em Am Em
A Em
C Em
C B
Em Am Em
A Em
+2

I say Em and An fit better for me least, and for the instrumental part I like to use a type of link from the Em to Am which is just Em, 3rd Fret on the low E then Am
+1
