           Freight Train (Elizabeth Cotton)
(Chorus)
     C G7
- Freight train, freight train, going so fast,
- G7 C
- Freight train, freight train, going so fast.
- E7 F
- Please dont tell what train Im on
- C G C
- So they wont know where Ive gone.

C G7
Freight train, freight train, coming round the bend,
G7 C
Freight train, freight train, gone again,
E7 F
One of these days, turn that train around
    C G C
And go back to - - - o, my hometown.

(Chorus)

C G7
One more place I'd like to be,
G7 C
One more place I'd love to see,
E7 F
To watch them Ol Blue Ridge Mountains climb
C G C
When I ride Ol Number nine.

(Chorus)

C G7
When I die Lord, bury me deep
G7 C
Down at the end of Chestnut Street
E7 F
Where I can hear Ol Number nine
C G C
As she comes on down the line.

(Chorus)

You can use your little pinky finger to play some of the melody while you are chording the C,G, and G7. This would be done on the 1st and 2nd string and also gives you the Dm sound as Dave has tabbed on the second line. A bit difficult to explain, but you hold the chord in place while you work your pinky finger:
(C) 1st str. 3 0 2nd str. 3 1
(G7) 1st str 1 3-1 / 3 1 2nd str. 3 0
(C) C 1st str. 3-0 (E7) (F) (C) (G) (C)
the numbers represent the frets that are in play either by pinky or standard chord fingering.
enjoy!

This song was tricky finding the actual lyrics. Seems there are many differing lyrics out and about. Even some of these verses may not be the actual original version. Maybe Elizabeth changed them from time to time as well.
