The performer: Elvis Costello and the Attractions
The album: Armed Forces

[Verse]
A D E
Don't start me talking; I could talk all night.
A D C#7
My mind goes sleepwalking while I'm putting the world to right.
F#m B F#m B E A
Called careers information. Have you got yourself an occupation?
                                                           Oliver's
        D E A D E
Army is here to stay. Oliver's Army are on their way.
A A/G# F#m A/E D D/C# E A D D/C# E6 E7
And I would rather be anywhere else but here today.
A D E
There was a checkpoint Charlie, he didn't crack a smile.
A D C#m
But it's no laughing party when you've been on the murder mile.
F#m B F#m B E
Only takes one itchy trigger, one more widow one less white nigger.

 . . . D E6 E

[Chorus]

G#m F# E D#
Hong Kong is up for grabs; London is full of Arabs.
C# F# E F#
We could be in Palestine, overrun by the Chinese line
         E F#
with the boys from the Mersey and the Thames and the Tyne.
B E F# B
But there's no danger. It's a professional career,
                                 E D#7 G#m
though it could be arranged with just a word in Mr. Churchill's ear.
                 C# G#m
If you're out of luck you're out of work
                   C# F# B E F#
We could send you to Johannesburg
B E F# B E F#
Oliver's Army is here to stay Oliver's Army are on their way.
B B/A# G#m B/F# E E/D# F# B
and I would rather be anywhere else than here today (3 times)
B E E/D# F#
Oh oh oh oh___ Oh oh oh______

Transposing down 2 half steps and putting a capo on 2 makes the chords post-key change a little easier.

Nice tab cheers:)If anyone wants to try this barred it's quite simple to do the run downs in the chorus, if you barre the A move your index finger up one fret on the A/G then a F#m then barred A open top string then barred D just with your index finger so you can do the D/C by putting your ring finger on 9th fret of the low E string then ring finger to barre an E6 or an E whatever's easier but I add an E7 before the A sounds good, enjoy people, peace out
Ps same pattern in the last verse, just up two frets, ie learn the first chorus pattern then just move it up two frets

Lack of accuracy. chord chances are total whack and i can't play it while reading. you can clearly hear the ones on the track
