Em G Em G
A very old friend came by today
  Em G Em
'Cos he was telling everyone in town
G Em
About the love that he just found
		  C D7 G
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

Chorus :

D C D	C
Though I smiled the tears inside were a-burning
    D C D C
I wished him luck and then he said goodbye
D C D	C
He was gone but still his words kept returning
      D C G
What else was there for me to do but cry

Other verses :

He talked and talked and I heard him say
That she had the longest blackest hair
The prettiest green eyes anywhere
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

Would you believe that yesterday
This girl was in my arms and swore to me
She'd be mine eternally
And Marie's the name of his latest flame

in the verse the chords actually start out g and then goes into em. So if you're reading this and get confused, just switch around the chords. Other that that, this is a great song just to sit and play around a campfire. This tab is nearly flawless.

I think there is an Em7 before the C in the last line of the verse, so the last two lines + are G/Em/Em7/C/D7/G/Em. I use 3 0 0 2 2 0 (from the high E String).
