Dmaj7 Bsus2 Gsus2 Bsus2
[Verse]
Dmaj7
Hello
Bsus2
I've waited here for you
Gsus2 Bsus2
Everlong
Dmaj7
Tonight
Bsus2
I throw myself into
Gsus2 Bsus2
And out of the red, out of her head she sang
Dmaj7
Come down
Bsus2
And waste away with me
Gsus2 Bsus2
Down with me
Dmaj7
Slow how
Bsus2
You wanted it to be
Gsus2 Bsus2
I'm over my head, out of her head she sang
[Pre-Chorus]
D A
D
And I wonder
A D
When I sing along with you
[Chorus]
B5 G5 D5
If everything could ever feel this real forever
B5 G5 D5
If anything could ever be this good again
B5 G5 D5
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
A5 G5
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
[Instrumental]
Dmaj7 Bsus2 Gsus2 Bsus2
[Verse]
Dmaj7
Breathe out
Bsus2
So I could breathe you in
Gsus2 Bsus2
Hold you in
Dmaj7
And now
Bsus2
I know you've always been
Gsus2 Bsus2
Out of your head, out of my head I sang
[Pre-Chorus]
D A
D
And I wonder
A D
When I sing along with you
[Chorus]
B5 G5 D5
If everything could ever feel this real forever
B5 G5 D5
If anything could ever be this good again
B5 G5 D5
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
A5 G5
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

I personally skipped the add chords here, but basically, that means you're adding notes without the intermediate odd intervals. So and add9 means without the b7 (which is implied in a regular 9th). And and add11 skips the b7 and 9th. The 11th is like a 4th up an octave. the #11th is a b5th up an octave (but added in, not replacing the regular 5th).
I was having fun with this song using: Dmaj7= xx0222 or x57675. Gsus2=3x0233, Bsus2=x24422. (use what you like). For DM7add9, you can use x57655 (same as an A/D). Bsus2add11 could be 7x465x and Gsus2add#11 could be 3x0223 (use your thumb for the bass G). Those chords don't sound as good as without the 11th so I skipped them. Try inverting some notes and you might find something you like.

Could someone explain the -add- chords for a novice like me. I know it has to do with scaling, but I do not know how to do that. Can someone provide the tab of those chords?

I found this song much easier to play with capo on 2nd fret. Then you can substitute the chords with the below (values relative to capo).
Dmaj [XX023X]
Bsus2 [XX220X]
Gsus2 [XX133X]
D [355533]
A [334553]
B5 [002200]
G5 [11X3XX]
D5 [XX553X]
A5 [XXX553]
