This is a good framework = The voicings as presented are "lacking the bluesy feel" -
I suggest
The G voiced as a G9
The C voiced as a C9
So on with A as an A9, B as with B9, Bb#9
D voiced as D9, D#9, D9
These voicings easily allow the attack for the various riffs that walk up and down this progression.
