The chordings for all the other versions of this song didn't sound right to me. So I
decided to try it myself. The song has a root of
F major, so all the chords are in relations.

Thanks to Tim & Cheryl Wartman for doing the original chording and words.

Standard Tuning

The Old Black Rum

        F C F
I drank sixteen doubles for the price of one
Bb F G C
Trying to find the courage to talk to one
            Bb C F Bb C F
I asked her for a dance, not a second glance
My night had just begun

        F C F
Well I drink to the Father or the Holy Ghost
Bb F G C
I'm kneeling at the altar of my nightly post
           Bb C F Bb C F
So I'll raise the glass, not the first or last
              C F
Come join me in this toast

            C F
Because the old black rum's got a hold of me
       F Bb C
Like a dog wrapped round my leg
         C F
And the old black rum's got a hold of me
          F C F Bb
Well I'm here for another day, Hey
          F C F
Well I'm here for another day

Well the queen of George Street just a walking on by.
Walking on by with some guy who don't care
That she stood in line since half past nine.
And spent three hours on her hair....on her hair
Well her friend is looking at me with an evil grin
I think the bloody racket might soon begin
I must have said something to the George Street queen
and boys I'm joining in

So I drank all of my money and I slept out in the rain
Every day is different but the night are all the same
You never see the sun on the old black rum
But you know I'm gonna do it again

This is indeed what Alan plays. Sean's guitar is capoed at the 3rd fret (D).

Closest Ive seen so far. Just some minor things:

When the C is played, you add the G note with your pinky (third fret on high E).

Also, add a G chord on "Just" in line 4 and on "hours" in hours on her hair.

Get the strum rhythm right and that will be damn near perfect.
