intro: C Gm7 Am F C G C

C
Patiently
             Gm7
I've waited patiently
             Am F
Hoping that you'd believe
          C G
That the lights in our eyes
                C
Are not fading out

                   Gm7
They're not yet fading out
               Am F
Somehow we're safe and sound
           C G
Like the glow off the shore
           C
We will hurry

C F7
What could I ever do?
C G7
What could I say?
C F7
To cover up my concerns?
C G7
To keep them at bay?

Em Am
Oh, then she said,
C G7
"You spend too much time in your head."
C F7
What could I ever do?
C G7 C
What could I say so carefully?

C
Carefully
             Gm7
I followed carefully
              Am F
Too scared of a scraped knee
       C G C
So I wait on the sand with her Coppertone

                    Gm7
Yeah, she put on Coppertone
                   Am F
And went out there all alone
       C G C
Never one to be scared or to worry

C Gm7 Am F C G C [x2]

C F7
What could I ever do?
C G7
Oh, what could I say?
C F7
To cover up my concerns?
C G7
To keep them at bay?

Em Am
Oh, then she said,
C G7
"You spend too much time in your head."
C F7
What could I ever do?
C G7 C
Oh, what could I say so carefully?

The "Oh, then she said" part isn't C|F7, it's Em|Am.
