'The nomad' by Iron maiden

Album - Brave new world

Transcribed by Adam Scott 21st August 2003

This tab is my own version of 'The nomad'.
I got inspired by a tab which
appeared on various websites.
The slow solo is copied and
corrected from the transcription I saw.
None of the solos here as i can't tab them.HA!

Riff A

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --------9/10\9---- 9-----9---
A --------7/8 \7-----7-----7---
E 0-0-0-0--------0-0---0-0-----

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --------9/10\9---7-----7-----
A --------7/8 \7---5-----5-----
E 0-0-0-0-------0-0--0-0-------

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --------9/10\9-----9-----9---
A --------7/8 \7-----7-----7---
E 0-0-0-0--------0-0---0-0-----

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --------9/10\9---------------
A --------7/8 \7-----10-----7--
E 0-0-0-0--------0-0-8--0-0-5-- end riff A

This riff Comes to a standstill
the second time around. The riff above
becomes-

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D -------9/10\9----------------
A -------7/8 \7-stop-----------
E 0-0-0-0----------------------

The riff below is played over Riff A
It goes something like this

fill A

e -----------------------------
B 12-12-12-12---13p12-12-10-12-
G -----------------------------
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

e -----------------------------
B 12-12-12-12-13p12-12-10------
G -----------------------------
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E ----------------------------- x8

I would say that this is a
simplified version of the riff
but i read a tab which transcribes
this as the riff below.

e -----------------------------------------------
B ----0---0---0---0---0----------0---0---0---0---
G --4---4---5---4---2---4------4---4---5---4---2-
D -----------------------------------------------
A -----------------------------------------------
E -----------------------------------------------

I am not sure which is right because
the riff above is hard to play fast.
You should try both and find out
which you think is right.

Riff B

e ----------------------------------------------
B ----------------------------------------------
G ----------------------------------------------
D --------4--4--4----------4--2--2--------------
A 2-2-2-2-2--2--2--2-2-2-2-2--0--0--------------
E ----------------------------------------------

e ----------------------------------------------
B ----------------------------------------------
G ----------------------------------------------
D --------4--4--4----------4--5-----------------
A 2-2-2-2-2--2--2--2-2-2-2-2--3--7--------------
E -------------------------------5--------------

Riff A played here twice
'
Riff C the weird 'Ah,Ah,Ah,Ah!' bit

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --4--------------------------
A --2-4-5-4--------------------
E ----2-3-2--------------------

Riff D is played with the Riff C

e -----------------------------
B --12-------------------------
G -----11-12-11~---------------
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

Riff A plays ..again.

But this time has this riff
played on top of it by one of the axemen.

Riff E

e -----------------------------
B -12h13-12----12~-------------
G ----------14-----------------
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

e -----------------------------
B -12h13-12----15-13-12----12~-
G ----------14----------14-----
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

e -----------------------------
B -12h13-12----15-13-12--------
G ----------14----------14-----
D -----------------------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

The riff above is the way it is
played just before it goes into the verse

Then into power chords for the verses

'like a ... '

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G --4------2---4------7--------
D --4--4---2---4--4---7--------
A --2--4---0---2--4---5--------
E -----2----------2------------

Riff A and E played for the prechorus ( Nomad...)

Then it just repeats itself until the chorus.

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G --9------5-----7-------------
D --9------5-----7-------------
A --7------3-----5-----fill 1--
E -----------------------------

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -9-------5-------------------
D -9-------5-----7-------------
A -7-------3-----7-----fill 1--
E ---------------5-------------

The two riffs above played twice in through this order.

fill 1 is played by a different guitar
It is played between the two riffs above.

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --4-5-7-7-5-4-2~-------------
A -----------------------------
E -----------------------------

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D --2--------------------------
A --2--let it sound------------
E --0--------------------------

The riff below is not right but its a good start

e -------------------------------------------------------------
B -------------------------------------------------------------
G --------------------------5---5---5---5--------2---2---2---2-
D ------2---2---2---------5---5---5---5--------2---2---2---2---
A ----2---2---2---2-----3--------------------0-----------------
E --0----------------------------------------------------------

e -----------------------------
B -----------------------------
G -----------------------------
D -----2---2---2---------------
A ---2---2---2---2-------------
E -0---------------------------

This riff backs the greatest slow solo ever !
Also the riff above turns into chords as
the backing guitar goes distorted.

And here it is....

e ------------------------------------------------------------
B ------------------------------------------------------------
G-------------11-12-11--11-12-12---11-12---------11--12--11---
D -14ring-14------------------------------14--14--------------

e ------------------------------------------------------------
B ------------------------------------------------------------
G --12-11-----------------------------------------------------
D ---------14--12---14----------------------------------------

E ------------------------------------------------------------

Backing guitar goes distorted when riff F is played.

e -------------------------------
B -------------------------------
G ------16-16-16-14-16-16-16----- x3
D ---14--------------------------

Fill C

e ------------------------------------------------------------
B ---------15-------------------------------------------------
G -----17-----17-16--14-16-16-16------------------------------
D ------------------------------------------------------------
A ------------------------------------------------------------
E ------------------------------------------------------------

Fill C kicks when riff F repeats.
The Fill C is played once and then
the axeman goes back to the Fill B.
It is quite hard to explain but
listen to the song to see the slight variation.

end Riff G

Riff G is played twice

e ------------------------------------------------------------
B --------------------------------12--------------------------
G ----------11-12-11-12-14-12-12------12----------------------

E ------------------------------------------------------------

Riff repeats

And that is it. It's a bit complicated to
look at but it comes together if you listen to the song.
Just go back to playing the verse chords,
then the chorus, and Riff A with
Riff E played over the top.

It ends with an E5 (below) and a cut down riff E (bottom).
