Standard Tuning: CAPO II

Chords used:

C: 032010
D: 000232
G: 320033

Intro: [G - C - Am - D]x2

Verse 1 chords:
G C Am
  It's New Year's Eve
and California's gonna kill you soon
G C Am
   The Barstow boys
buckeyes in the shadow of the moon

Verse 2 chords:
G C Am
Black houses in the hill and roadside hearts
Dying for a place to fall apart
G C Am
Who knew what you could learn to live without
Mother Mary's lying in your mouth

Chorus 1 chords:
Bm Em Am
Back home the kitchen's warm with Christmas wine
and every girl has got an axe to grind
Bm Em
You left to look for heaven
           Am D
But you're far from that hard light tonight

Interlude: [G - C - Am - D]x2

Verse 3: [use verse 1 chords]
So quietly we've lost another year
the desert put a babbler in your ear
mean firewood and I miss you again
Barstow boys are spit into the wind

Chorus 2: [use chorus 1 chords]
Back home the hammer always has to fall
crosses barely hanging on the wall
Someday I know you'll never leave me
But we're far from that hard light tonight

When I sing to it, it sounds better as G Em Am G personally, other than that, perfect chords man.

I would agree, the Em needs to follow the G during the verses.
