This is an old JJ Cale tune that we play in my little duo/trio. The chorus, which is the opening set of lines sung in this song, is correct, but the verse section is way off. The chord progression through that section of the song is E-G-A-E, repeated twice. For example:
The [E]clock it turns at a [G]rapid pace
And [A]takes us to another [E]place
The [E]train it goes from [G]here to there
Just [A]left me [E]standing there
Play along with the recording of this tune from JJ's album Travel-log and you'll clearly hear the proper progression for that section of the song.
