IF I HAD EYES - JACK JOHNSON
Tabbed by: Jamstein

Tuning: Standard

So, here's a tab of Jack's newest single, "If I Had Eyes," which will be officially
on December 11th, ultimately to come out on his album "Sleeping Through The Static," due out

This tab is gonna be very basic, just to give you an idea of how to play the song, and
to expect with regards to chords. It's very simple and straight-forward, so I hope this
you out in some way.

Chords (can be played in any variation, this is just the way i hear it)
    D5 A5 G5 Bm Em A
D Alternate form of A5, for the chorus

The little riff

D5 A5
If I had eyes in the back of my head
            G5 Bm D5
I would have told you that you looked good as I walk away

(play riff)
D5 A5
If you could have tried to trust the hand that fed
                    G5 Bm
you would have never been hungry but you'd never really be...

D5 A5 G5 Bm

D5 A5 G5
more of this or less or is there any difference or are we just holding on to
Em A

things that we don't have anymore?

     D Em
Sometimes time doesn't heal
G A5
no not at all
     D Em
it just stands still
G A5
while we fall
  D Em
in or out of love again
  G A5
i doubt i'm gonna
  D Em
win you back when you've got
G A5
eyes like that
you won't let me in [hear the "Yeah!"]
always looking out > (Play riff here)
         A5 G5 Bm D
woo ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh
D5 A5 G5 Bm D
ooh ooh ooh, ooh woo ooh

Verse 2:
D5 A5
Lot of people spend their time just floating
           G5 Bm
we were victims together but lonely
D5 A5
you got hungry eyes that just can't look forward
       G5 A5
can't give them enough, but we just can't start over (play the riff next)
D5 A5
building with (thin nails)?, we're falling but holding
G5 Em A
i don't want to take up anymore of your time
time, time, time
           D Em
Sometimes time doesn't heal
G A5
no not at all
    D Em
it just stands still
G A5
while we fall
D Em
in or out of love
G A5
again i doubt i'm gonna
D Em
win you back when you've got
G A5
eyes like that
won't let me in
always looking out

D5 A5 G5 Bm
oooh ooh ooh, ooh woo ooh ooh

always lookin

D5 A5 G5 Bm (repeat until end)

I know this is a pretty rough tab, but considering that the single hasn't even
been released yet, I hope you can make do. Thanks to casio g.c. from the Jack Johnson message
for the lyrics, which i modified slightly. Enjoy this, and keep listening to JJ.

i'm pretty sure for the riff that he is playing octives. so instead of just playing the notes on the B string also put a
finger 3 frets above it on the D string and mute the G string. and when you go up to the 3rd fret on the B string leave
the D and still mute the G string
