Capo 3rd

E9 G#m7
I remember Richard Nixon back in seventy four
A C#m7
And the final scene at the White House door
E9 G#m7
And the staff lined up to say good-bye
A C#m7
Tiny tear in his shifty little eye
A/D
He said nobody knows me,
E9 C#m7
Nobody understands
A/D
These little people were good to me
Ebm7 Ab7 C#m7 F#7
Oh I'm gonna shake some hands

Somebody line 'em up

Oh I've seen corn in Kansas
    C D/F# G D/F# G
And I've seen picket fences
     Em7 F#7(#5) Bm7 A/B Bm G/B C
And certain cowboy dances
                   D/F# G D/F# G
I've gone lining up for shows
                Em7 F#7(#5) Bm7 A/B Bm7
I've been safely placed in rows

Sure I know how it goes

A lovely song and typically great guitar work by James. The song uses the open 2nd string pedal tone throughout, so make sure to use that when playing it. A couple of tiny corrections: In the last line of the "Line 'em Up" chorus, I think the progression goes G#m7-C#7-F#m11-B7 (rather than G#m7 F#m7 C#7). The other one is an additional passing B major chord in the 3rd and 4th verses between A and C#m going to the A/D (ie where he sings "To make today today" in the 3rd verse)
