TRAVELING ALONE - Jason Isbell
Capo 2

[Intro]

Am

[Verse]

                      Am7 Fmaj7
Mountain's rough this time of year
                C
They close the highway down
             G
They don't warn the town
Am Am7 Fmaj7 C
I've been fighting second gear for fifteen miles or so,
                  G
Trying to beat the angry snow
Em Dm
I know every town worth passing through,
                   C G
but what good does knowing do with no one to show it to

[Chorus]

           C
I've grown tired of traveling alone
G
Tired of traveling alone
           Am
I've grown tired of traveling alone
Am7 Fmaj7
Won't you ride with me
           C
I've grown tired of traveling alone
G
Tired of traveling alone
           Am
I've grown tired of traveling alone
Am7 Fmaj7 C
Won't you ride with me, won't you ride,
           G
Won't you ride

[Verse]

Am Am7 Fmaj7
I quit talking to myself
     C G
And listening to the radio a long, long time ago
Am Am7 Fmaj7
Damn near strangled by my appetite
                    C
In Ybor City on a Friday night
                G
Couldn't even stand upright
Em Dm
So high, the street girls wouldn't take my pay
                            C G
She said come see me on a better day, and she just danced away

[Chorus]

           C
I've grown tired of traveling alone
G
Tired of traveling alone
           Am
I've grown tired of traveling alone
Am7 Fmaj7
Won't you ride with me
           C
I've grown tired of traveling alone
G
Tired of traveling alone
           Am
I've grown tired of traveling alone
Am7 Fmaj7 C
Won't you ride with me, won't you ride,
                G
Won't you ride

[Bridge]

Ab Bb C
Pain in the outside lane, I'm tired of answering to myself
Ab Bb C
Heart like a rebuilt part, I don't know how much it's got left
                   G
How much it's got left

C G Am Am7 Fmaj7

[Chorus]

           C
I've grown tired of traveling alone

Tired of traveling alone
           Am

I've grown tired of traveling alone
Am7 Fmaj7 C

Really good - this looks just like how Jason plays it on the G&G video. Only thing I might change is that it looks like he's playing the Fmaj7 as x33210. Great translation, thanks.

Thanks! I appreciate the input. That's the video I used to see what chords he was using. You could be right on the Fmaj7 chord, but I like to add that bass note in there as well. Personal preference, I guess.

Have you seen the video that someone shot when he did "Songs That She Sang in the Shower"? It looks like he did it impromptu at a music store. I am trying to transcribe but it's tough. This lady's hair bun keeps getting in the way :-)

He tunes the low "E" string down two steps, and capo 2. The first chord looks (relative to the capo) like x54030 - when I play it on my guitar it sounds like it - but he's doing something with his pinky finger that doesn't make sense.

The next chord looks like a standard Am x02210. It's the third chord that's driving me nuts. He's playing what sounds like a G base note but his hands stay high where the Am was. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get that chord without going back up where the first chord is.

Any suggestions or thoughts appreciated! And thanks for your comment. I'm probably not good enough to get that "1" with my thumb but I'll try. -Jake
