Time: 3/4

[Intro]
C | G | C | G |

[Verse 1]
         C F C
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
C Am7 G
Let's pretend that we're together all alone
              C C7 F
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low
       C G C G
And you can tell your friend there with you, he'll have to go.

[Verse 2]
         C F C
Whisper to me, tell me do you love me true
C Am7 G
Or is he holding you the way I do
               C C7 F
Though love is blind, make up your mind, I've got to know
         C G C
Should I hang up, or will you tell him, he'll have to go.

[Chorus]
            F
You can't say the words I want to hear
              C
When you're with another man
        F
Do you want me, answer yes or no
         C G
Darling, I will understand.

[Verse 3]
            C F C
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
C Am7 G
Let's pretend that we're together all alone
              C C7 F
I'll tell the man to turn the jukebox way down low
            C G C
And you can tell your friend there with you, he'll have to go.

Great tab. I like to play a gentle Fm at the end of every third line F Fm way down low,

Overall, a good translation of the song. While not in the key that Jim Reeves' sang it in, it's a good version for novice guitar players like myself and allows me to simply use a capo if I'd prefer to sing it closer to his voice range. One suggested correction - I would transition to a C7 on the word "jukebox". Gives the song a little more depth and gets it closer to the original version.
