It's E, not Fm.

After a solid twenty minutes I think I've finally solved the chord in the intro/verse progression. Instead of A Amaj7 A7 F# Bm Fm A, try replacing the Fm with a Fdim7. I found this to sound spot on! Also the background chord at the end of the riff [*(notes)] is an E.

This makes sense. To have the nice the bass run play Fdim7 with 1st fret of E and 1st fret on g string, let d and b string sound as well.
