Bogus! John uses F#m7,G#m7,A6,& E6. The E riff throughout most of the song (except the very first chord) is played: openE,(mute),9,9,9,12 then take pinky off 12 which gives you openE,X,9,9,9,9. Now you play mostly the higher strings, still holding 1st finger bar on 9th fret-->pinky on 12th fret of 2nd string->pinky off. Rest of lick is on 9th & 11th frets. Good luck!
